Misty Cota is a longtime resident of La Mirada and graduate of La Mirada High School. She holds an Associates Degree with Honors,’01 from Cerritos Community College where she served as a Student Trustee and an Associate Justice in Student Government and served as President of the Honors Program.  She was awarded a Gold Falcon Award.

Misty went on to the University of Southern California, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a Minor Degree in Political Science in 2004 and a Master's Degree in Organizational Leadership from BIOLA University in 2012.

After a long-time career in Sales and Property Management, Misty went on to work in the La Mirada City Manager’s office where she worked closely with officials to address resident and community concerns, and was promoted to the position of Community Supervisor, where her primary responsibilities included training and staff development, fundraising for Community Development projects including Splash! La Mirada Regional Aquatics Center, coordinating  community events, Veteran affairs, and working with surrounding Cities, including Santa Fe Springs, Whittier, Lakewood and La Habra to improve Public Safety, Social and Senior services.  Misty was recognized by the La Mirada City Council for her commitment to the community and was awarded the Superior Performance Award. 

In 2010, Misty transitioned to a full time career of Real Estate, joining her long-time family business, where she continued to thrive, working closely with her clients to provide top-notch service to successfully facilitate and close each Real Estate Transaction. Misty’s professionalism, marketing, community and contract expertise has provided her  the uncanny ability to navigate and provide sound recommendations to her clients, earning them top dollar, saving them time and protecting their largest investments. 

In 2015, Misty was given a Million Dollar Club Award for her Market expertise and customer service. She continues to serve the community by sitting on the Board for the Love La Mirada Organization and supports many organizations including the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9148 Chapter and Women's Auxillary, La Mirada Ebell and local women's and youth organizations.  She also serves as an advisor for young women at USC, is a mentor for the Marshall School of Business at USC and is a Rotating Trainer for Keller Williams' Ignite Training Series for the Whittier La Habra Office.
